NEXT STEPS IN MY DEVELOPMENT

B3.2 Final Bachelor Project

For my Final Bachelor Project, I will continue within the Crafting Wearable Senses squad, as its open-ended structure, focus on exploratory making and emphasis on textiles and wearables strongly align with my professional identity and vision. The absence of a predefined brief allows me to approach the FBP as a research-through-design project, where concept development, material exploration and user experience can evolve together.

Learning goals

Interaction design
Deepening my practice of designing for interaction within garments by embedding affordances and user experience considerations throughout the design process.
Craftsmanship & technology intersection in textiles

Combining textile craftsmanship with digital fabrication in a high-fidelity wearable prototype.

Situating the design

Deepening business & entrepreneurship approach by exploring material sourcing, production feasibility or a supporting business model.

Math & computing for supporting realization

Applying structured, rule-based thinking to garment development by using geometry or basic computational logic to inform pattern making or transformation.

Planning & process autonomy

Independently manage a long-term, self-directed design project through structured planning, documentation and iterative evaluation of progress.

After BSc Industrial Design

Looking ahead, I aim to continue my development within an academic context by pursuing a Masters program. Before the internship, I was conflicted between choosing a specific direction, by signing up for the MSc Fashion Design program at Politecnico di Milano in Italy, and continuing with a broader one, by following the MSc Industrial Design within TU Eindhoven or MSc Strategic Design within TU Delft

While following the internship at the Fashion Tech Farm and preparing my application for Politecnico di Milano, I have came to the conclusion that even though my interests lie strongly within textiles, wearables and fashion-related contexts, my strength lies in my industrial design mindset: combining design research, user experience, technology and strategic thinking. Therefore, I currently consider that a broader foundation and an academic environment that allows me to be in charge of my learnings would be a better fit for me, as I am able to take initiative and independently shape my development.
