(BSc) INDUSTRIAL DESIGN

Projects

During the first year, projects were grounded in clear guidelines and structured design briefs. Looking back, I can already identify a design identity that aligns with my current professional direction. Each project centered around creating stories of societal relevance while incorporating material exploration and technical realization.

At the time, however, I was not yet aware of the full scope of my design interests. Since the narrative direction of the projects was not mine to define until the second year, I subconsciously directed my attention towards the part that I could control, the technical execution.

Reflecting now, I realize that, contrary to my early assumptions, my core interest lies not in technical execution alone, but in concept development and in crafting meaningful stories that reflect societal questions. Realization is still important to me, but as a means to materialize vision, not as an end in itself.

'PLASTHETICS'

Is plastic that bad? - a new take on sustainable fashion

Showcasing the good properties of plastic with applicability to sustainable fashion innovation.

Crafting Wearable Senses - Project 3

The practice of design research within material exploration with a focus on design-for-debate brought me in a better alignment with my vision, making me realize that while technology is a big part of it, speculation is actually the purpose.

'HOMELY'

Home away from home - helping international students overcome homesickness

Multisensorial experience meant to resemble the environment from the user's home country.

CBL - Project 2

The practice of an exploratory approach prepared me for working with research based processes, and designing the interaction brought me new perspectives about how Technology & Realization can enhance the communication of a concept.

'LILY'

What if plants could communicate their feelings?

Interactive flower-shaped companion, meant to communicate waterlilies' feelings through human-like character.

CBL - Project 2 (Creative Electronics module)

Designing the interaction made me realize how a story is important for a meaningful and intuitive user experience, while I was also able to see how interaction could contribute to telling a story.

'PLANET 42'

What if our planet won't make it? - educating through play

Space-themed educational game, inspired by climate change.

CBL - Project 1

The iterative process approach trained my mindset towards a continuous reflection and evolution of concepts based on improvements, that has prepared me for working with research based projects.

Designing the user journey challenged my problem-solving mindset and taught me the importance of designing with users when designing for users.

Design related personal projects

Limited design and crafting knowledge paired with a creative mindset trained my outside-the-box way of thinking. I was able to rethink the purpose of basic materials and crafting skills and use them for materializing the concepts I was imagining. This mindset still shapes my way of working to this day, as I am a strong believer in smart solutions being simple and intuitive.
